Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is now firing on all cylinders as the DMZ and Warzone 2.0 game modes have also launched. Eventually, as players progress, they will begin to collect double XP tokens for character and weapons. These tokens can be used in the main menu before starting a game, but how to check how much time has elapsed on a used token is a whole other puzzle.
Currently there is strangely no way to check how much time has elapsed on a double XP token. Whether users are inside a game or outside of the menus, there is no way to determine how much time has elapsed or whether a previously used token is still active. Multiple tokens can be used at the same time, and there is no way to check whether previous tokens are being overwritten by new ones. This is believed or hoped to be an accident, and many users are puzzled by the lack of an intuitive interface in the game. In addition, XP tokens count in real time regardless of whether you find a match and a server to play properly.

This combination of mechanics, or lack thereof, has caused some frustration among users. Currently the only way to keep track of elapsed time is to manually manage a timer when using a token from the menu. Either grab the nearest cell phone or use a web browser and manually use the timer that varies based on token value. It’s not ideal, but without the in-game UI to support players, they have to track token usage manually or they risk throwing them away.
Modern Warfare 2’s Trello board also doesn’t indicate that the developers are aware of this possible oversight, although some noise has been made on social media regarding the frustration. It is currently unknown when or if Infinity Ward plans to add a means to track elapsed times of double XP tokens.
